The Idea
#

Ever since I was young, I’ve always loved solving riddles. But for me, the real magic of a riddle wasn’t just in reading a question and reasoning out an answer, it was in the interaction. The best riddles weren’t just puzzles; they were conversations. When someone posed a riddle to me, I could think out loud, explore different possibilities, and get real-time feedback on whether I was on the right track. This back-and-forth made the experience dynamic, immersive, and, most importantly, fun!

Intro Screen

With Riddle Forge, I want to recreate this kind of interactive experience. Instead of static questions with rigid answers, the game uses a large language model (LLM) to make the riddle-solving process more natural and engaging. LLMs are a perfect fit for this because they can:

  • Understand flexible answers – Riddles often have multiple valid ways of phrasing an answer, and an LLM can recognize and evaluate these variations instead of relying on exact matches.

  • Provide interactive hints – Instead of offering a simple “right” or “wrong,” the AI can guide players, nudge them in the right direction, and encourage creative thinking.

  • Enhance immersion – A medieval riddle master (be it a wizard, knight, or king) should feel like a real character, responding naturally to players rather than simply displaying text on a screen.

By combining storytelling with AI-driven interaction, I hope to create an engaging and dynamic problem solving experience, one where every puzzle feels like a conversation rather than just a test.
